Superior Machine Co. of S.C., Inc. (Superior) announces the completion of a slewing bearing change-out for Steel Dynamics, Inc. (SDI), Roanoke, Virginia steel mill on the Gantry Structure servicing its electric arc furnace.

Superior’s field service team and SDI’s maintenance team worked collaboratively in the development of an implementation plan to execute a quick and exacting change-out to minimize SDI’s production downtime.

Once the plan was fully developed, Superior mobilized a highly skilled field service team of millwrights, machinists, mechanics, riggers, welders and project managers to disassemble the gantry, inspect the bearing surfaces and install a new Rotek bearing to exacting tolerances.  The Superior team worked around the clock from the commencement to conclusion and concluded the outage on schedule..
