Superior Machine Co. of S.C., Inc. (Superior) announces the addition of (4) Lower Shells (Hearths) for Electric Furnace to its backlog.
Kent Carraway, company C.E.O. stated, “We are pleased to add this business to our backlog; this is another positive sign of the Industry recovering. Our proposal activity has been very heavy in recent months reflecting the Industry preparing for continued economic recovery.”
Mr. Carraway noted that while the company experienced deferrals of major capital upgrades (revamps – equipment upgrades) and even spare part orders by customers over the past 18 months, that signs of an economic recovery in the steel industry are pending. He advised that a major project was reactivated recently based on cost and energy savings per ton. The company is in the midst of several other discussions regarding major upgrades to improve operating and energy efficiencies. The pending Cap and Trade and economic issues will drive the need for ‘greener’ more efficient furnaces. ”
